Our story
The Riwa project is an off-shoot of the Women’s Empowerment Program organized by Zarqa Life Center. It is led by Najwa Mohammed, a Syrian refugee residing in Zarqa. Her team comprises four other local women who were facing economic and personal challenges. However, they are now overcoming these obstacles, thanks to their employment in the Soap Workshop. Najwa is just one of the many beneficiaries of The Zarqa Life Center.
We have worked with Italian soap specialists to add an artistic modern touch to our traditional olive-oil soaps. Since then, we have grown our products to encompass two product lines: The modernized Riwa, and the more authentic Life Soap covering a variety of over 25 different soaps in total.
We at Riwa aim to create a sustainable business that will improve the lives of the women working in it. Any excess profit we make goes directly back to the community either by supporting our existing women empowerment programs, or by creating new projects such as the recently established mask workshop that enabled us to support another 3 women.
When you shop from Riwa, you’re not only getting top quality organic soaps, but you’re also supporting the lives of impoverished women.
